She has been telling stories ever since in libraries, hospitals, schools, community festivals, kindergartens and parks. At the end of 2007 Helen moved to Adelaide with her family. Helen loves telling for adults and children and enlivens her performances with her musical skills, singing, playing the recorder, violin and other weird and wonderful instruments. She has a background in theatre and is an experienced primary school teacher. Helen believes that stories have the capacity to move, inspire and heal people of all ages, and she loves the sound of children’s laughter. Her belief that storytelling is a very natural and human thing to do is reinforced by the number of times that Helen leaves kindergartens to the sound of children spontaneously taking it in turns to tell stories. Helen tells stories from all over the world and sometimes she writes her own. She tells with energy, and is a very physical performer. Her stories are carefully tailored to her audience, with participatory stories for the young and longer more involved stories for adult audiences. Helen has performed stories for a wide range of adults and for people with special needs. She greatly enjoys the challenges and rewards of working in a wide variety of contexts. Where? Helen is available throughout Adelaide and surrounding areas.
